On May 21, 1999 Deputy Ronald M. King and his partner Deputy Chris Washburn were doing motorcycle patrol on Highway 85 in Douglas County. A drunk driver was driving the opposite direction of Ron and Chris and turned left in front of them. Both Ron and Chris were struck by the drunk driver and Ron died on the way to the hospital. Ron was a well respected member of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and he was passionate about the youth of Douglas County. Deputy Ronald M. King will never be forgotten.
