Carrie meets with her sister Minnie, she turns and look back to Drouet. *She feels alone even with her sister * She reaches at her sister's house. * She meets with her brother in law Sven Hanson. * Sven thinks that Carrie should work and earn some money. * Carrie understands the situations that her brother in law wants the rent for his stay, but Minnie does not have any ideas in her mind regarding this. * Carrie thinks that if Drouet will come to meet her here than her family members will not feel good, so she wrote a letter to Drouet to wait. * Next morning Carrie goes to the market in the search of a job. * She is afraid that how to ask for a job to someone. * She wonders here and there and then ask a old men for the job. * He replied that he does not want anyone. * His politeness make her strong to ask. She goes to a company of clothes but she does not get any job there because she is not having experience of that work. * At last she reaches to a meal of cap, woman are stiching there. * She gets the job there and told to come on Monday if she wants to work. * She is offered 3 dollars and 50 cents for a week there. * She searches for the job at many places though she got the job. * But she did not get the job because either they are not having any vacancies or they needs the experienced one. * After getting tired when she thinks about to return to home she finds a shoe factory. * She meets with Mr Brown there and he offers her the 4 dollars for a week. Carrie gets tired so she accepts the job of shoe factory and returns to home. * Carrie is happy because she got the job. * She tells this news to her sister Minnie. * Minnie is happy about her. * Mr Sven Hanson looks worried when he returns to home but when he hears the news of Carrie's job, he feels happy for her. * Minnie tells about the places of Chicago to Carrie. But when Carrie asks about the theater her sister gets quiet because it is too expensive. * Carrie asks to Mr Sven for theatre but he refuses. * She gets annoyed andgoes to her room. * Carrie wonders here and there looking the houses of middle class families. * On Monday she gets ready for the job and reaches to the factory at given time. * The foreman gives her the job in the line of making shoe. * She has to put the leather in a right way so the machine can cut the leather for the shoe.
