* Carrie tries to do her work properly so the further work does not get stop because of her. * She gets tired but when she listens the bell of lunch she feels relaxed. * Carrie looks at the other workers during lunch. * She feels that the other workers are of low category in comparison of her. * Some workers pass comments on her when she starts her work again. * Some of them offer company to Carrie at the end of work but she refuses and leaves the place. *Drouet gets the letter of Carrie, but he looks disinterested in her while reading he letter. *Drouet meets with Mr Hurstwood at a luxury place. *Hurstwood is a rich manager. *Hurstwood and Drouet are opposite in the nature n style. *Drouet tells about Carrie to the Mr Hurstwood at the end of the meeting. *Carrie returns to home after the work of the first day and tells her brother in law that she does not want to do this work. *But Minnie and her husband thinks that she should be happy because she is having the job. *Carrie wakes up early in the morning and starts walking because she feels that her payment is not enough to hire a taxi on daily basis. *She does not feel good at the workplace because she thinks that each women in this workplace is supported by someone but no one is there to support her. *She gets the payment of the first week( 4 dollar and 50 cents). *She return to home and gives 4 dollar to her sister as a rent of the house and keeps 50 cents with her. Winter starts.... *Carrie thinks to buy new clothes for the winter. *She tells her sister that she should accept 2 dollars as a rent so she can buy new clothes for the winter. Carrie gets sick and she misses her job. When she starts to find the job after getting well,she does not get the job till three days. One day she was looking for the job,suddenly Drouet sees her. Drouet takes her to the best restaurant and have the best meat.(Sirloin steak) * When Drouet comes to know that Carrie is Looking for job , he gives him 2 notes of 10 dollar inspite of her refusal. * Drouet promises her to meet at the theater tomorrow. * While returning to home Carrie thinks that what she will buy by this money. * She is scared that what she will tell her sister if she asks that from where she get this money to purchase these things. * She does not tell anything to her sister. * She tells her sister that she got the job in the Boston store and tomorrow she will go for check back. * She tells that if she will not get this job tomorrow then she will return to village. * Minnie says it's OK. * Carrie feels that her sister and sister in law do not want her to stay here. * Next morning she wakes up early and moves for finding a new job. * She thinks to buy a jacket for her but later she decides that she will return the money to Doruet. * She meets with him. * Drouet says that she has not purchased nothing for herself. * He takes her for lunch. * Drouet makes her agree to purchase new clothes * He purchases shoes, shocks,purse and jacket for her . * He convinces her to stay with him in his apartment. * Carrie agrees because she knows that if she will not get the job today she will have to return to village * She returns to home and finishes light dinner. * She writes a note for Minnie that she is leaving and she will be happy. * She puts the note under the hair brush of Minnie. * She leaves the home saying Minnie that she is standing outside. She meets to Drouet at the corner of the road and he takes her to his apartment in the car. Minnie gets the note of Carrie in the next morning. She tells this to her husband, but they both are having no grief of her going. Carrie is afraid that night because she thinks that Doruet will demand something from her. She is also afraid of not having the job. * She tells Drouet that she wants to do the job * She requestes Drouet to find a job a job for her.Drouet takes her to visit the city. * One day he takes her to visit the Mikado. * Minnie has a dream that night that Carrie is descending in a coal mine. * Mr Hanson wakes her up and tells her that she is talking in the sleep.
