DIINOBLAST's video: Puppy Animation Workflow

@Puppy Animation Workflow
🎬 I Animated this in 2011... 12years ago !! Recently I got it rendered in UNREAL through "Haneesh Babu" a generalist based in Kerala. This was my workflow to animate Mr.Puppy 🎥 1️⃣ Created a layout in 3D using cubes to plan the choreography 🐶 2️⃣ Once the basic choreography was achieved, I roughly placed the camera accord to it 📐 3️⃣ Searched for references to match the choreography and edited them into one single clip ✂️ 4️⃣ Remember, no cheating poses to the camera! Poses should look good in perspective. This is super important! 📷 5️⃣ Blocked in the leg contact/release poses, those crucial frames where the legs touch the ground or lift off 🦵DO NOT ANIMATE THE GLOBAL, use individual controls, I used global only for blocking the choreography and book mark key areas. 6️⃣ Added breakdown poses, key poses between contact and lift-off 🚶 7️⃣ Smoothed it out by splining it, Keep adding more keyframes and breakdowns as needed. 8️⃣ Once roughly animated, treated the head, chest, and pelvis as separate bouncing balls, working with or against each other based on leg contacts and impacts 💥 9️⃣ Constantly refine the animation, always referring back to the references. If you're experienced with worldspace locators, this is the perfect stage to use them to flesh out the animation. 🌍 🔟 If you have used multiple rigs, (in this case I had used many, especially the path rigs and key frame rigs), use world space locators to bake them all back to one rig…Clean up the graphs, and make everything look smooth and polished. 1️⃣1️⃣ Animated secondary animations like tails and ears. You can copy a curve from a body part, preferably the "body Ty", and paste it onto the ear controls and tweak the values as necessary. If the rig has dynamics enabled for Ears and tails, add a touch of it to blend it. Using 80% keyframes and 20% dynamics for the tails and ears is my personal preference! 🐾 1️⃣2️⃣ Animate the Camera in a realistic fashion, handheld + noice etc Tip : For quick tail animation in simpler shots, try point-constraining all the tail IK controls to the pelvis, bake them, and then offset each one by 2-3 frames. Quick and effective! 🐾 Done !!
