@Donna Summer ~ Dim All The Lights 1979 Disco Purrfection Version
Donna owned the summer of 1979, first "Hot Stuff" raided the charts and spent three weeks at the top. Casablanca did not wait to issue the second single "Bad Girls" while "Hot Stuff" was on its way to the top and it hit this time for five weeks! Both songs were in the Top 5 for six weeks! The third single issued was "Dim All The Lights" and it peaked at stuck behind the Eagles "Heartache Tonight" for two weeks. Donna explained the inspiration for "Bad Girls": "I just get bored with things quickly, I couldn't see doing the same thing for the rest of my life. The audience is not always going to get it, but it should really always be new for you" Again, Casablanca did not wait to issue her next single a duet with Barbra Streisand "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) that again peaked at . At the 1979 Grammy Awards Donna was nominated "Bad Girls" for Best Pop Performance but Dionne Warwick took that statue home. "Dim All The Lights" was nominated for Best Female R&B Performance, again losing to Dionne Warwick. She did take the Grammy for Best Female Rock Performance for "Hot Stuff", but was disappointed when the Best Disco Recording, new for 1979 that she lobbied hard to create was won by Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive". That category was dropped for the 1980 and subsequent years.
