Malanggad, is a hill fort located in the Matheran Hill Range, Raigad District, Maharashtra. The fort is located at about 789 m above the sea level. Malanggad was built by the King Naladev of Maurya Dynasty in seventh century. The fort was home to a Nathpanthi Saint named “Machhindranath” during this period. The fort was initially captured by the Marathas in the 17th century and was later conquered over by the British. Ketakars were the Kiladar’s of the fort, which is of Shri Malang Wadi Village. Nearby Kalyan East 15 km, the reinforcements arrived in early October as Colonel Hartley and Captain Jameson and their troops advanced on Malanggad and finally defeated the Marathas. _____________________________________________
