How I Increased My Credit Score By 65 Points in 48 Hours For most of us, this can be the most frustrating part: waiting. Once the agencies have received your information it could take up to 30 days to receive a reply. If the collection agencies do not reply within 30 days by law they have to remove the collection item from your credit report. If you filed your disputes online you should receive a response within 7-10 business days. Again, the agencies reporting the debt have up to 30 days to verify the accuracy of the debt or they must remove it from your file. Keep a copy of the letter you sent. Send all letter via certified mail with a return receipt. Handwrite all account information in the designated section of the letter. I included a template a debt validation letter in the previous video (How To File a Credit Report Dispute). Please see the description section below for the link. This is exactly what I did to get my score to jump 65 points in 48 hours. 1. I pulled my credit report and noticed there were errors in my address. They have 2 addresses on my credit file they I never resided. One of my addresses they had listed twice. To a creditor this show instability. 2. There was a phone number listed on my credit file they I have never had so I requested it be deleted. 3. My student loan was listed on my credit report twice with one listed as being delinquent and other was listed as paid as agreed. I only have one student loan so I requested the delinquent account be deleted. It was scheduled to be removed in 2020 but I filed a dispute indicating this was a duplicate account and it was removed. I did this on March 8th. I checked my account on March 10th and score jumped 65 points. I literally went from fair credit to good credit in 48 hours. Yes, my credit score is well over 700! I still have work to do as I want to balance my account with an installment loan. I am in the market for a car and will be going through my bank for pre-approval. I don't want to use the dealership finance department as they will try to get me approved with multiple finance companies. More than 2 inquiries on your credit report can decrease your credit score. It takes 25 months for those hard inquiries to be removed. Once I did this I applied for a Chase credit card and was immediately approved for a $1500 credit limit. I have one inquiry on my credit report and that inquiry (as of March 19th) did not affect my credit score.
