The 2020 Homebuilder grant is a federal government initiative that gives you $25,000 if you build or renovate, given you meet certain criteria (which I cover in the video). In this video I share is Homebuilder is going to be worth it financially and my thoughts on these types of programs. I outline the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision. Some Pros: ➡️It can get you into the housing market. ➡️You get a brand new and stylish place. ➡️It is money gifted to you! Some Cons: ➡️You pay a premium for a newly built home. ➡️This home will depreciate faster. ➡️There is limited potential to force equity growth. ➡️Most of the money is in the house not land. ➡️You usually need to live in less desirable areas. ➡️Which means you are in an are surrounded by similar suburbs all built at the same time. Also, one of the biggest pros of NOT building is that you can keep renting and use your capital to invest. Buying a home is not investing so committing all your money to that could be destructive if things don't go your way.
