Closing Plenary Speaker: John McCann John McCann is an educator, facilitator, and consultant. His work focuses on innovation, strategy, and leadership development. John has worked closely with some of the nation’s leading arts organizations in prototyping new approaches to greater value creation. These include the Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, Dance/USA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. He is also active in negotiating mergers and new strategic alliances within the arts, including the merger of the Tribeca Film Institute and Renew Media; the merger of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and Dance Theater Workshop, and the development of Latino New South a regional consortium of the Levine Museum of the New South, Atlanta History Center and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute; and the Global Folk Art Network, a cohort of 25 artists committed to social change movements in their home countries. In the dance world, McCann has supported strategy development efforts for the Dance Heritage Coalition, DANCECleveland, Elisa Monte Dance, Washington Ballet, BalletMet, Dance/NYC, Colorado Conservatory of Dance, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. McCann designed and now serves as lead faculty and facilitator for the annual Community Arts Education Leadership Institute for the National Guild for Community Arts Education; Arts Leaders as Cultural Innovators for EmcArts; and the Emerging Leaders Program of the League of American Orchestras.
