Daniel Buckley's video: Victoria Arias Essay

In applying for college at Saint Mary's University, Victoria Arias of Tucson's Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos wrote an essay on what the experience of being in the venerated youth mariachi had meant to her. It earned her a full scholarship. She planned to study pre med. But tragically her life was cut short in a drowning accident and she died on July 12, 2017, just weeks before she was to start her Freshman year. The community is filled with grief over the loss of this beautiful, talented and vivacious young woman. During an interview with The Mariachi Miracle last fall she read the essay she wrote. Mariachi Miracle producer/director Daniel Buckley used that recording, and numerous clips of Victoria in rehearsal, performance and public service around Tucson over the past five years, to share with the public in her own words her love of being part of her second family – Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos.
