Check out www.darrencoggan.com 'The Bidgee to the Big Smoke' In a very special celebration of his 20th year in the Australian music industry, multi award winning performer, Darren Coggan, takes us on a personal journey back through the triumphs and disappointments of a diverse career that has seen him embrace the Australian Country Music, Musical Theatre and Television industries with aplomb. From humble beginnings, strumming a guitar by ‘the ‘Bidgee’ river in his beloved hometown of Wagga Wagga, to selling out The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall with Peace Train, his critically acclaimed portrait of Cat Stevens, Darren has forged a unique and diverse career worthy of reflection and celebration. Along the way he has made regular appearances on our television screens, currently as a presenter on Network 7 for Sydney Weekender, and trod the musical theatre boards in shows such as Grease, Happy Days & Shout. “I’ve been truly blessed in my career to have had the opportunity to experience many varied aspects of the entertainment industry. I have worked with and learned from the best in Australia and I can’t wait to reminisce a little and share my personal journey with our audiences on this tour as well as introduce some new songs from my most recent album. This show is a great opportunity for me to mark time, say thank you and turn the page for the next exciting chapter.” Said Darren. Darren Coggan - The ‘Bidgee to the Big Smoke, promises to be an entertaining journey along the road less travelled. Show casing songs from his award winning albums Hometown, Balancing Act & War Stories plus highlights from the various musicals he has starred in and of course a selection of songs from his hugely successful show Peace Train - The Cat Stevens Story. “It was the boy from Wagga Wagga, Darren Coggan, who emerged as the evening’s king of hearts. Coggan has a fresh, powerful, expressive voice, and whether it was ‘Back In My Hometown’ or ‘I Got Plenty of Nuthin’, he just oozed style.” The Australian “Coggan’s musical story-telling is outstanding, as is his singing and playing.” Sunday Herald Sun
