Gigadad's video: 350z Wheel Snaps

@350z Wheel Snaps
I never thought stock oem rims are susceptible to breaking under normal driving conditions.Yet here I am carless due to nissan rims cracking and snapping. The incident occurred at around 30 mph right before traffic hit on the highway. I first noticed a problem when I heard a grinding noise from my front left rim as I would drive. Inspection showed no signs of damage so I continued on my way. As I drove more I noticed the problem got worse. I started to feel a bumping in the steering wheel. Also turning right made the bumping worse, while turning left made it almost nonexistent. Finally the constant vibrations and hard knocking of the rim made it snap into two pieces while still having the center of it bolted onto the car. A spare tire was used to transport the car to a body shop. Of course when inspecting before the accident I didn't notice all the hairline cracks in the wheels or that they went complete through the rim. Now this information is obvious to me. My sports car is a 2005 Nissan 350Z 35th anniversary edition with 18" chrome plated wheels and oversized brembo brakes. Nissan owners 350z and 370z be aware of this problem. Nissan should assume responsibility and have a recall on these rims. I've heard its only because of the chrome plating and it causes the rims to corrode and become less structurally stable. But I've also heard this is a common problem for stock infinity G35 wheels. Since all my 350z wheels are cracked they must be replaced before she is driven again. Wish me luck in having state farm insurance replace the broken rim, and having it be charged under comprehensive instead of collision so my rates don't increase. Also Duggans collision repair shop is dealing with nissan directly to request a cash out for one or two of the rims since there is no way they will replace all 4. With the wheels being cashed out, I must find good aftermarket rims for the total cashout price ($1800ish). I was thinking BBS? //////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\💯 Follow on Instagram 📷 @streetbikesforever http://instagram.com/streetbikesforever Email 📧 streetbikesforever@gmail.com Like on Facebook 📲 http://www.facebook.com/StreetBikesForever Follow on Twitter 🐥 https://twitter.com/StreetBikesEver Follow on Tumblr 🙌 https://www.tumblr.com/blog/streetbikesforever YouTube Channel 🎥 http://www.youtube.com/user/StreetBikesForever Check out my photographer on Instagram 📷📲 @sad_gucci http://instagram.com/sad_gucci Feel free to message me about anything!
