Dava Behrens, Broker's video: Rogue Highlights 2017

Recently, my husband I took a great trip down the Rogue River in Oregon. No electronics for four days. Yes, FOUR DAYS! The world did not end and business was still there when I got back. I learned some things that are worth sharing. Leadership examples: Three amazing guides lead us down the river, successful because they communicated, gave and took, had knowledge and experience. There was not a single huge ego. They shared the efforts equally. True love of the work was evident. Because of this leadership, as a unit we were confident and trusting and eagerly pitched in to help; resulting in unexpected rewards and opportunities to see and do things that were over and above the typical river trip (secret swimming holes and rock water slides). Eight Lessons (apply to the river, business and life): 1. If get you get stuck wiggle, jiggle, wiggle jiggle until you’re not stuck any more. [Kayak on a rock] 2. If you’re up against something big and immovable, lean into it. [Raft against a boulder] 3. Face the challenges coming at you. [If the wave comes at a diagonal from the side, turn and paddle into it] 4. Follow someone. If they make it, do what they do. If they biff it, don’t do what they do. [Kayaks reading the course through the rapids] 5. Be gracious when you accept help and when you give it. 6. You only regret the things you knew you wanted to do, but didn’t. [No missed opportunities because of fear or lack of self-confidence]. 7. One can live a simple life and be incredibly wealthy--it's not all measured in money. 8. It's not a race. Take the time to savor the trip.
