In this video I recreate Dougie Thomson's bassline to the Supertramp song "Child of Vision," from their 1979 album "Breakfast in America." I do not own this music. This video is for educational purposes only. It is my understanding that Dougie played his white Music Man Stingray bass, loaded with flat-wound strings on this album. After listening closely to a version of The Logical Song that had keyboards removed, I could clearly hear the tone of the bass, and settled on using my 1992 Peavey Palaedium, since it also has a humbucker near the bridge, and the tone is very similar to the "Stingray with flats" sound - lots of punch without the extra "hiss" that round wounds bring. NOTES: This is literally my second playthrough of this song - I run through it once, check my notes, etc., and then press record.
