DaveIn NH's video: Air 2s Maiden Flight Footage Sunset Low Light Camera Auto Settings No Color Grade Fort Foster

This is ungraded footage, shot on the maiden flight with the DJI Air 2s drone. The camera was set to full auto, 4K, 30fps, normal color profile. No ND filters were used. The shots are arranged in chronological order, shot between 5:15 PM and 6:40 PM, on Sunday, September 26, 2021. I hadn't bought a new drone this year, and my Air 2 has been throwing a 'downward vision sensor' error for months, so I decided it was time to pick up an Air 2s. I was really interested in the camera's wider dynamic range and improved low light performance, since I shoot a lot of video at sunset, and I do get a lot of low light noise in the footage. I'm not interested in the Mavic 3 (too expensive for a hobbyist), so the Air 2s was the logical choice. I updated the firmware and went over to Fort Foster for the maiden flight and to really give the camera a good, real-world test. I have a lot of faith in DJI products, so I wasn't worried about a fly away, or losing the drone in the river. Purchasing the DJI care package also allieviates some of the anxiety. For this flight, I went with the default, full auto settings. This footage is what you get out of the box. At the beginning of the flight the sun was very bright, and some of the highlights are blown out, especially on the Gundalow's sail. As the sun set, the lighting became more challenging, but the camera performed very well. One of the more interesting features of the Air 2s is the 4.2x digital zoom. I gave it a try, and you can see the results in the static shot of the lighthouse, and in the shot of the sun from across the river. I think the results are pretty good, but you can see the limitations of using digital zoom. As far as flight characteristics, the Air 2s flies very similarly to the Air 2. It is more noisy, though, which was a surprise. I might be picking up some Master Airscrew props to mitigate the increased noise. I also used the auto tracking features during the flight. DJI has made some appreciated improvements to the active track - it held the target much better than the Air 2. The music selection for this video is, 'Holograms', by M83.
