@Eagle Arrives at Portsmouth Harbor and USCG fly-by of the Wood Island Life Saving Station
This is a drone video of the arrival of the United States Coast Guard Cutter Eagle at Portsmouth Harbor, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The video was shot from Wood Island, at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, Kittery Point, Maine. Featuring 2 fly bys of the the EADS HC-144 Ocean Sentry. This flight was conducted from Wood Island, Kittery Point, Maine. It was coordinated with Coast Guard Air Ops, out of Joint Base Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We were restricted to 200 feet altitude, and could fly no further than 300 feet from the island. We had indirect contact with the airplane, and I attached my navigation strobe lights (don't know if the pilot could see them, but they're pretty bright) The lead vessel of the 2019 Sail Portsmouth Parade of Sail, USCGC Eagle, makes her way up the Piscataqua River on August 1, 2019. The Eagle is a training cutter for future officers of the United States Coast Guard. The ship was built as the German sail training ship Horst Wessel in 1936. At the end of WWII, she was taken as war reparations by the US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USCGC_Eagle_(WIX-327) Sail Portsmouth: https://sailportsmouthnh.org/overviewhistory/ Wood Island Life Saving Station Association: https://woodislandlifesaving.org/ Go Coast Guard: https://www.gocoastguard.com/
