David Epperson's video: Michael Grant Piano Pieces From Movie Fair Haven

@Michael Grant Piano Pieces From Movie "Fair Haven"
Pianist and actor Michael Grant (as James) performs impressive interpretations of the 3 classical piano pieces used in the movie Fair Haven. The first two shown in this video were composed by Chopin and the third by Brahms. Michael plays marvelously on the living room piano…what a treat it would be to hear him playing in the concert hall. (1) “Nocturne In B Flat Minor Opus 09 No. 01” — Michael uses a slightly slower and very deliberate approach that allows each note’s voice to sing, which gives the song a unique character not often heard by other pianists. (2) After a spat with his father, Michael stomps away as the music begins before showing him playing with such vigor and intensity, giving new meaning to the parenthetical “Revolutionary” used to describe the piece entitled “Etude In C Minor Opus 10 No. 12 (Revolutionary)”. Again, Michael’s interpretation is just a bit different from that of other pianists that I have heard, and is profoundly filled with the emotion felt at this point in the movie. (3) “Waltz In A Flat Major Opus 39 No. 15” — As both the opening and closing song for the movie, Michael is shown playing it near the close with the beauty and grace that his mother must have played it as well. This is also the moment of reconciliation between father (Richard, played by Tom Wopat) and son James, and is a fitting connection they have to their deceased loved one. Key credits for the movie are shown at the end of this video, which features music from the musical score for Fair Haven, composed by Christopher Farrell (the score itself is another brilliant and beautiful component of the film). This part of the score used during the movie credits includes a beautiful reprise of the main theme in the Brahms piece which essentially the theme for the movie.
