In response to the video on digipots, I have built a fairly obvious solution to the problem of pushing the button repeatedly to turn the volume up and down... I'm not sure how sharp the slope needs to be to trigger the digipot but a little schmitt trigger action on the output might not be a bad idea to "square" things up! :P
