David Holland's video: Plants vs Zombies GOTY survival endless 2000 flags

@Plants vs Zombies GOTY survival endless 2000 flags
This annotated video shows me reaching the milestone of 2000 flags in the game Plants vs Zombies, game of the year edition (GOTY). In case you're wondering, this is not the same game as my 1000 flag video. I learned a lot from recording that game, which ended at 1242 flags, and two games later I made it this far. I have made many improvements to my play of this setup, particularly in saving seed recharge time by delaying the use of freeze, so that I almost never run out of the 7 second seed attacks against jacks or gigas. I also almost never plant two dooms in an inner row, which will stop planting there against zombonis, since I don't run out of seeds and have to take such risks. I may have done this perhaps a couple of times up to 2000 flags on difficult replacement levels, but I try not to do it at all now since it is less risky to use a single instant attack instead of two and then return to the 7 second attacks as seeds recharge. One of the biggest threats now is multiple jack accidents on the same level, which would be a huge risk with jacks and zombonis with craters blocking planting for a long period. Another rare danger is a very damaging jack accident, where an inner jack gets far enough forward to destroy three pool glooms on one side in one explosion. This happened only once in this game up to 2000 flags, at 1006 flags, and I got an easy level to follow so was able to replace the losses. If I'd had a tough level with gigas it would probably have been game over. It is now almost routine to get to 1000 flags, whereas it involved enormous amounts of good luck the first time. But in the approach to 2000 flags the game has become more difficult, mainly because there are slightly more jack accidents and so I spend more time with less sun. I think this is just because there are more jacks, and so the chances of one of them causing damage with an explosion have increased, even though the chance of any jack exploding has probably not changed. Levels with both jacks and gigas are particularly prone to jack accidents now. I guess this is because there are even more gigas also, and they can sometimes shield jacks from the slowing and damaging effect of winter melon. Finally, increased numbers of zombies means more pumpkin damage. As shown in my tutorial series up to 100 flags, I replace damaged pumpkins but also dig up some without visible damage since they will still be damaged, and I prioritise particularly the land winter melon pumpkins for this dig up replacement on easy levels. This helps these pumpkins, which come under the most threat from giga imps, survive longer on the giga levels. The second priority is the "dolphin" pool gloom pumpkins, the ones the dolphins chew on. After that come the back pumpkins, but diggers aren't much of a threat, still. Even so, I have occasionally lost one of the land winter melon pumpkins. If the winter melon survives, I make a note to replace it on an easy level if I am near peak sun because it may have been damaged. Rarely, after losing the pumpkin I've lost the winter melon too. That requires replacing it on the next level even if there are pool gloom losses. I survived even on a tough level and replaced the glooms on the next level, but such an incident might not always be survivable. In this game up to 2000 flags such a situation occurred only twice.
