David Orban's video: Emerging Communities in the Metaverse

The metaverse is a training ground for emerging societies and novel ways of human interaction. Just like past innovations, it’s set to build new communities through conversations, fostering a society that wouldn’t be possible without this digital evolution. Some will use the metaverse to mirror our physical world with high fidelity. But the real transformation, I predict, will come from those who explore the new freedoms it offers, creating value in its diversity. The leap will be made with neural interfaces – brain-machine connections that enable total immersion in the digital worlds. Conversely, our physical world might become so augmented with digital information that understanding it fully will require these neural interfaces. This brings us to a significant societal challenge: the coexistence of two groups–those embracing these interfaces for deeper experiences, and those who opt out. How these groups adapt and live together will define the inclusivity and success of the metaverse, and society as a whole.
