Steam ends abruptly -- my system crashed and wouldn't boot back up (showing signs of boot drive failure). Luckily, a simple reset of the BIOS got things up and running, so looks like everything is ok. Diagnostics showed everything is healthy, so crisis (tentatively) averted!
