David Savery Electrical Services's video: The 85 EICR of pants

@The £85 EICR.... of pants
What bang you get for your buck when you just want it cheap... and why it might all end up as money down the drain... Contains strong language and scenes of alcoholic ranting. An Electrical Installation Condition Report, when properly undertaken, will give you a true picture of the ongoing safety of the electrical installation and what areas, if any, need maintenance or upgrades. Sadly, too many are being performed quickly and cheaply by people who haven't been specifically trained for the task resulting in nonsense such as we see here. A quick aside: this review of another outfit's EICR paperwork was recorded on Sunday after what can only be described as a massacre of white wine in a ranty fashion, yet reviewing it in the cold light of day on Monday, I wasn't happy with how I'd presented some points or the language used against those behind this abomination. I felt it was making me look like a bit of a prick which... is most out of character... as I'm sure you'll agree. So, this is the theatrical edit with it depersonalised and cleaned up a little. As such, some errors and omissions, especially on the Schedule of Inspections, have been cut. There are more errors on this paperwork than this video documents. And no, there won't be a director's cut. To preempt a few questions: I'm not sure why the video freezes around the 26:40 mark, it's okay on the editor so it may be an encoding error. Around the 8:20 mark, I've had to blank out the website quotes as some sleuths were identifying the author of this nonsense. The mixture of Y/N and ticks/crosses is obviously because it's easier to place a Y or N in a box than the tick or cross symbol using the likes of Word or OpenOffice. I don't know what's going on with Section K which is a malformed mess, but this is how it was presented to the client. Why is a 2014 build being re-inspected in 2019 when the house builder would have signed it off for ten years? I don't know, but the lady had just moved in so maybe she didn't have the paperwork or wanted it checked for her own peace of mind (which she didn't get). I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures on the day, but I didn't plan to make a video out of it. It was only after I received the report that I choked on my gin & tonic and (weeks later) pulled out the video camera. Not everyone on Checkatrade is a wanker, but in my opinion, Checkatrade are wankers. I think I asked at the time how long the chap had been on site for, but it was three months ago, and I can't remember what the homeowner said now. It's a moot point, whether it was one hour or all day, it wasn't worth the money. The last contact I had with the homeowner was before Christmas and she said that she was going to complain to this person about their report being incomplete and inaccurate. I don't know if she did, or where that went, and I've lost her number so I haven't chased it up, nor do I particularly have the time or inclination to as I'm rammed with work. It is possible to be a good inspector without any specific City & Guilds (or whatever) paperwork *if* you know what you're doing, understand the forms, have the insurance, and are recognised for undertaking such work by your CPS (when a member of such). My annoyance isn't with inspectors who know what they're doing; it's with installers who don't but who offer it as a service because they are either wholly ignorant of their inadequacy, or just don't care. If you don't agree with me on bathroom sockets, and don't like the one I showed 150cm from Zone 1 but on the other side of the doorway, read up on Reg 701.32.1. As for that Lily Allen thing, wow, that was freaky huh? I can't figure how that happened. Handy though, as I hate how she spouts shite 'on behalf of the masses' and how she claims we working class are all thick racists when she is herself dumb as hell and only has her privileged singing career thanks to mummy and daddy being in the showbiz industry to go down on the right people. I don't know if she does take it up the arse, but you'd have to pull the silver spoon out first if you did want to pot the brown.
