David Savery Electrical Services's video: Portable Test Rig : Create Evaluate

@Portable Test Rig : Create & Evaluate!
Playing with electricity is dangerous kids, but if we don’t do it, we won’t learn nuffin! Here then is a video aimed at those who are already well versed with electrical installation and are looking to level up to inspection & testing, perhaps with the City & Guilds 2391 qualification in mind. By building this apparatus, one may plonk it anywhere and play with their chosen test instrument(s) without fear of tripping off the building they’re in. I have two disclaimers however: Firstly, bear in mind I’m no teacher; just a plain ordinary dirty-arse ol’ sparky. There may be errors or omissions in this presentation which is based on the UK wiring regulations, BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 2. The purpose of this rig is merely to show how I myself can build and test to my interpretation of BS7671 based on my ten years’ experience of running an electrical business and my qualifications which include C&G 2394 & 2395 (what is now the 2391). Check the comments, especially any pinned comments, as well as the accompanying website at dses.uk/testrig for updates or errata. I should also add that as a pain ordinary dirty-arse ol’ sparky, I probably won’t have time to field technical questions relating to electrical work outside of the basic construction of this thing. Hell, I don’t even answer my paying customers half the blimmin’ time! Greater men than I, such as SparkyNinja, offer more appropriate (and qualified) avenues for technical discussion such as CPD courses and dedicated Discord channels for your learning betterment. Secondly, as already stated, this is for those who already know their coconuts and can work with such equipment in a safe and competent manner. Those not already juiced in when it comes to safe isolation, GS38 and the requirements for physical electrical installation work should probably keep their tools in their trousers. Personally speaking, I can build and use this equipment without killing myself, but I can’t say the same for anyone else, so if you try it and end up dead, I don’t want some angry widow(er) banging on my door. You know your own skills and limitations, I don't. Treat this apparatus as an unearthed Class 1 appliance! My thanks to Sammi and Ria (aka. TestGear Junkie) up there in that Scotland for requesting this here project, and apologies for it being delayed; planning started late last summer and it was supposed to be out for Christmas.
