David Savery Electrical Services's video: NTT: The Megger MPU690 Multi-Voltage Proving Unit

@NTT: The Megger MPU690 Multi-Voltage Proving Unit
Who knew that today, the hottest day in the UK on record, there would be a video about a new proving unit I’d just blown about seventy beer tokens on? Not me. At least, not until I was standing in Edmundson’s yesterday looking at the claims on the box of this thing as it glittered in the locked display cabinet flashing its curves and pouting lustfully... …I dunno, yesterday was also hot, and maybe I was dehydrated and experiencing some kind of mirage. Still, had I known it wouldn’t quite live up to the promises being pimped on the box, maybe I’d have kept my credit card safely tucked away in the pocket of my shorts where it rubs comfortingly against my wenus. Not that this hardware is a bad thing; far from it, and those in the market for a proving unit could do a lot worse. Is it better than my old proving unit that cost much the same ten years ago and has a fixed Voltage output? Yes, certainly. Still, six batteries is something of a kick in the ghoulies – my whole MFT only takes eight! Also, I’m most smo that it doesn’t perform a proper and patient step-Voltage test. I guess it gave me something to fiddle with, other than the usual, as I sat in a dark corner of my office with the sun beating down outside. It’s funny how it’s usually too hot in here, yet today 34C on the office thermometer feels cool compared to the blazing outside air. It’s certainly better than being out on the van, and no, that rusting Transit doesn’t have air conditioning. My thanks to Nick Bundy for sending me the photograph of his circumcised end when I requested it via WhatsApp. After some minor misunderstanding was cleared up, he then sent me a picture of his TIS859 with the retractable shrouds lopped off.
