David Savery Electrical Services's video: The Robin KTS1610: compact bijou

@The Robin KTS1610: compact & bijou
Who doesn’t like a video reviewing dinosaur electrical test equipment? Young people, that’s who. Oh, and also some of my older viewers. Plus... uh… those who only want to see site work. For that matter, analytics also says it’s not popular with the ladies… Well, that doesn’t bode well for an occasional new series where I look at the test gear of yesteryear just like grandad used to use, but for the three of you who are left watching I shall say WHO CARES? I do this for the love, not for the money or the kudos or the tattooed large breasted women who continually (and somewhat bizarrely) keep throwing themselves brazenly at me, especially while I’m perusing the pizza aisle in Asda for 2-for-1 thick crust pepperoni specials... for FRICKS sake! Nonetheless, this Robin thing is the kind of thing that happens to float my own particular purple thing, and for free too thanks to Ian and Sam who donated it in my southerly direction. Unfortunately, I then borked it and had to splash out on a replacement, but that’s the way the world seems to work lately. Still, this does have a happy ending… and no, not *that* kind of happy ending you bloody pervert! So, pour a large one and join me on an old school journey as I fly through the features and functions of this frigger, and allow yourself to be taken back twenty-ish years to a (very slightly) simpler time when test instruments sported dials instead of touchscreens, and where twisting the wrong knob at the wrong time would result in the exciting blowing of all sorts of fuses. Errata, extra answers and apologies: At 09:55 I say the original MFT Pro firmware had a 200 Ohm range, but it was actually 99.9 Ohm. I'm sorry for the reflected light on this thing during filming; normally I record with the overhead lights off and now I remember why! On live testing at around 12:00, the instrument can be seen intermittently losing power. That was down to the IEC plug not being pushed fully home into the connector. I was too busy not looking at it to notice. Before you ask why only one wire goes to the fuse in the battery compartment, this wire attaches to the end of the fuse seen in that compartment. The other end of the fuse sits on a spring contact on the PCB. When the battery cover is fitted, it pushes the fuse both onto the spring contact and onto the wire contact.
