David Tensen's video: Dreams are Not Fish - a poem

Who told you you should never give up on a dream? Of course you can! There are no religious rules or dream-police penalising people for what they catch and release. Dreams are not fish or one-off-specials or never-to-be-repeated sales or jealous lovers fighting for fidelity. As if you aren't brave enough to close your eyes pull back the curtains of your heart and dream a sky-full of desires. As if you aren't big enough to store in your soul a plethora of possibilties that brighten every moment with a dreamer's delight. So what are you waiting for? Dream! Dream as much and as often as you need. DREAMS ARE NOT FISH David Tensen Dec 2020 Around this time of year, many reflect and look at their dreams and goals. Great idea! Me too. But some years are dream crushers. 2020 is no exception. In today's 'never give up on your dream' culture, there can be an underlying lie we buy into that you can only have one dream and perhaps you're a quitter if you change or give it up. I'm calling that lie total bulls&$t, with this poem. Personally, I commited a year to complete my honours degree with a big research project that suffered major delays and a dream of entering 2021 having graduated with a chance to gain some experience and work in a University. That dream/plan/goal has been 'coronared' as Australian Unis suffered huge job losses and funding cuts. Could I pick up on this another year? Sure, but its simply not happening as planned. You must allow yourself to dream again, dream often, roll with the punches, bend and not break. You are expansive, Created to create. Feel free to release dreams you caught - Dreams are not fish!
