Programs beeing used Lightwave 3d: 3d editing & final rendering Reason: audio editing Vegas: video editing ------------------------------------------------ 2. 3D editing infos Details about the process the starfield fly through is my own work no reused template or something the starfield is part backround texture on distant sphere inside the way starfields were mostly done about 15 years ago simple and fast way. you create about 10000 random dots aply them on the shape of a sphere turn them into shapes and explode the whole sphere. in adition to that basic star backround a real starfield was build with stars as real light source set in space with spacific coordinates. as a font i used imperial wrote the lyrics i had in mind extruded the text into 3d gave each object 2 different surfaces on the side more darker then the front. no bitmap textures where aplyed but i made a procedural texture to create some grey turbolance on the surface of the words added about 30% specularity and about 16% glossiness for the front and about 55% spcularity for the sides for some interaction with the lightsources every text was animated by hand basicly i used about 100 frames 20-30 frames for ease in and ease out or fly in fly out animation and about 60-40 frames for the readybylyty section where i had to make sure to give the words enough time during the fly through to be read. for light sources i used mostly distant light which i animated about 2 different ones during each fly through a inverted half sphere like a dome behind the words 1-2 point lights in front and in some cases a spot light to animate some highlights. most of the surface light thingy thats going on was created with the 2 distant lights by simply turn animation ------------------------------------------------ 3. Audio editing infos i basicly try to plan the track in my head and played the parts backwards recorded that and reversed the audio material. it was an amazing experience to see how the brain does not work somehow each time i basicly hat to play it reverse it and see if it really fits the way i imagined it. there was no way to be real sure about what you where playing it was abit fingercrossing hoping for the best recording :) after i had about 8-10 audio channel of material i put some clips together for the short end where i actually used stop motion to play some notes as a respect to mgms stop motion work. of course i had to get the lyrics somehow for that i spoke the words (early in the morning to give my voice a lot of bass) pulled the words through different mechanics. first i used a vocoder with hard attack and 20ms decay. as a carrier i used the song itself which means (trying to explain the vocoder) the song audio instrumental where shaped into words. that gave some wide range of already songfitting lyrics. in adition to that i used 2 more vocoder with a much higher carrier detail and used strings and 3 sinus oszilator to get a darfpunkt like effect. the 3 osz for the base and the string vocoded for the harmonics. on top of that i used the orginal voice through a tuning software melodyne to tweak the voice into the harmonics of the strings so i have a better SS and FF and SHH sound (high frequencys of a voice) all this 4 voices mixed together. i thought about using a voice box on top of it but that sounds abit like overdoing things in the end the bassdrums snaredrums high hats synths and and and every sample was created on my own no sample database was used not even any kind of preset so congrat if you read all that stuff i wrote i hope i could answer some of your question in advance if there are still question left feel free to leave them in the coments or leave me a massage ------------ 4.
