With author Bernardine Evaristo, who recently became the first woman of colour in 50 years to win the Booker Prize for Fiction for her work Girl, Woman, Other, we discuss the representation of diversity in the literary world. For more than 15 years Evaristo wrote the stories and characters that she missed in literature her whole life. With her 8th novel – a story that features 12 interconnected characters, mostly women, black and British – Evaristo got international attention. What has changed in the literary world?
