Vice President Dhankhar led Indian delegation at the official funeral ceremony of Iranian President Raisi in Tehran, Iran on May 22. VP Dhankhar paid tributes to Ebrahim Raisi, FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other Iranian officials who died in the crash. Dhankhar also met Iran’s acting President Mohammad Mokhber and conveyed condolences over the tragic demise. In a major mishap, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died as his helicopter suffered an accident on May 19 near Azerbaijan border. A huge crowd gathered in Iran’s Tabriz to mourn President Ebrahim Raisi on May 21. Ebrahim Raisi died on May 20, a day after the helicopter he and his companions were travelling in crashed near Jolfa, a city on the border with Azerbaijan, some 600 kilometres northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran. Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian also died with Ebrashim Raisi in the helicopter crash. India has declared one-day national mourning on May 21 as a mark of respect for Ebrahim Raisi.
