VP Dhankhar paid tributes to Ebrahim Raisi, FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other Iranian officials who died in the crash. Dhankhar also met Iran’s acting President Mohammad Mokhber and conveyed condolences over the tragic demise. In a major mishap, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died as his helicopter suffered an accident on May 19 near Azerbaijan border. A huge crowd gathered in Iran’s Tabriz to mourn President Ebrahim Raisi on May 21. Ebrahim Raisi died on May 20, a day after the helicopter he and his companions were travelling in crashed near Jolfa, a city on the border with Azerbaijan, some 600 kilometres northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran. Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian also died with Ebrashim Raisi in the helicopter crash.
