BEHIND THE SCENES: KoRn (feat. Chino Moreno) - Wicked (Ice Cube cover) Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu talks about "Wicked" Ice Cube song covered by Korn in '96 for their second album 'Life Is Peachy'. This version features Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno. 'Fieldy' about "Wicked" in 2009 year: “I was a huge Ice Cube fan, so I approached the guys with the idea of covering one of his songs called “Wicked.” I wanted to get a surprise artist to come help us record it so I asked my good friend Jay Gordon from Orgy to come into the studio to rap Ice Cube’s part while Jon sang the chorus. Orgy hadn’t hit yet so no one outside of diehards knew who Jay was. We thought it would be a good idea to get someone with a recognized name to join in, too, so we asked Chino from the Deftones to help out. We had just played several club dates with the Deftones so we had a pretty good rapport with them. Chino said he already knew the song and was down with doing it. When he and Jon (Jonathan Davis) got into the studio, it was crazy. They were both completely wasted, jumping all over the room whilewe tried to get a decent take. If you listen closely to the song, you can hear how trashed Chino was at the time. He is slurring his words on the track. After listening to the playback, though, we decided to leave it the way it was recorded because there was such a cool vibe there despite the drunken muttering.
