This album was basically made on a laptop with stock FL Studio 20 and some plugins and samples which I got for free, either because they're free or because I got them in a sale (nothing legally questionable). Nearly all the synth sounds in the whole album are coming from FL's stock plugin Sytrus, with the only use of a hardware instrument being the Teenage Engineering PO-12, which is used on the short track "2". I didn't even have a MIDI keyboard during the production of this album. Now, I'm not saying that you have to love the sound of this album, and this album definitely didn't 'blow me up' but I feel that from an objective standpoint, this album's production value is high enough that it isn't distracting to the average listener. What I'm trying to say is, you can do a lot with a little, and this album is a great example of that. From Tetrachromacy to this album, you can see a huge jump in quality, and that isn't because I bought the best software or I had the best hardware, it's because I pushed hard to make a thing that sounds good. And yeah a MIDI keyboard hugely impacted my later stuff, and yeah hardware synths are amazing, but if you want to make good music, there's not really much stopping you as long as you have a half-decent laptop, a DAW, self-judgment, humility, and patience. This album was about two and a half years after I started making music at all. Software I used frequently on this album that some people would consider heresy but you shouldn't really have a problem with using if you use them well; - FL Studio 20 - Sytrus - Fruity Compressor - Fruity Reverb 2 - Fruity Delay 3 - Fruity Soft Clipper - Fruity EQ2 - Fruity Love Philter - Fruity Wave Shaper - OTT - dBlue Glitch - Ozone 8 Elements - George Yohng's W1 Limiter So yeah, idk. Make what you wanna make. Don't come up with excuses. Eat pant. [/pretentiousness] ~ ~ ~ idk what i'm doing next but it'll probably be alright so stay tuned : - )
