I wrote this poem based on Genesis 4:7 - "Sin is crouching at your door. It desires to have you." AT YOUR DOOR Something crouches at your door With a knock to be let in Cunning and unnatural This unholy guest is sin Seeking to gain entrance Into your heart and home Wishing to devour your soul And claim it for its own Beguiling and deceitful It will engage every ploy To lower your defenses To conquer, kill and destroy Be warned of this visitor Who brings death and decay Promising life and goodwill Then throws your life away When you hear a subtle knock Take careful heed once more Guard your heart, for that is when Sin is crouching at your door
