What are the most soothing colours for a home? Use these colours to create a happy and relaxing ambiance within your home Since we spend a lot of time within our home, it must have a soothing colour scheme which can in an element of calm and peace within the home decor. There are several methods to integrate different colours that can create a relaxing indoor environment that ensures our emotional and physical well-being. As per scientific studies, colours have energy and each colour elicits a unique emotional response. We can bring in a sense of harmony with a strategic use of colour. As we are constantly exposed to different colours and are absorbing colours, it can stimulate our mind, body and soul. Healing Properties of Colour Additionally colour has a lot of healing properties just like exposure to sunlight energises, heals and nourishes us because it releases white light which comprises and combines the vibrations from 7 colours. Another interesting fact is that the 7 colours are also associated to the 7 chakras of the body and each chakra is energised by vibrations from a specific colour. “The 7 colours of the spectrum of white light are violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red (VIBGYOR). The colours like violet, indigo, blue are cool colours with a shorter wavelength while yellow, orange and red are hot colours with a longer wavelength. Green has a medium wavelength because of which it is a restful and quiet colour. The best part about cool colours is that they have a meditative and restful effect on the mind. Hot colours evoke stress and anxiety. • For a conservative colour scheme, use off-white and neutral colours that bring in a sense of openness within the home and use shades of light blue as it has a soothing effect. O not use colours like red an yellow as it stimulates anxiety. • You can also opt for a limited use of colour to add life into the overall decor of the home. Colours like sky blue calms the mind, muted grey because it stands for tranquillity, pale yellow adds warmth and light pink works as an accent colour. Include earthy hues of nature with wooden furniture and indoor plants. You can introduce accent colours in a small quantity in the vases, accessories and throw cushions and so on. Install a red painting in the bedroom to activate the couple and ensure intimacy. Use cheerful colours like yellow and orange to enhance creativity. Add turquoise blue in bathroom and give it a spa-like feel. • Avoid using shades of black in the home decor because it absorbs negative and positive energies. Shades of white are preferred because it reflects energy and allows a free flow of energy within the home.
