Detroit Institute of Arts's video: Conservator s Corner: Ellen Hanspach

@Conservator's Corner: Ellen Hanspach
Conservator's Corner is a new series devoted to exploring the care and research of the Detroit Institute of Art's collection. Ellen Hanspach, Conservator of Paintings, discusses the making of a Chinese mural depicting a Bodhisattva and the preparation needed for its installation in the Buddhist Art Gallery. At the DIA, we have conservation labs devoted to the care of paintings, objects, paper, and textiles. To aid in the research of our collection, we also have a conservation scientist and an imaging specialist, a mount maker, a paper care specialist and assistant. Each video will explore a treatment executed by our conservators, a research technique, or other conservation-related project. This is the first video of a two-part special — stay tuned for part two next month! The DIA is a leader in education, providing one-of-a-kind access to history and cultures not found in books, on TV or online. Learn more: https://www.dia.org/education
