For the adventurous ones, who love to go beyond the well trodden paths, there is much to discover. For example the beautiful Mekong surrounded by quiet cities with awe-inspiring wats (temples) as Nong Khai, Ubon Ratchathani and That Phanom. But also small oasis with prehistoric cave art as Khong Chiam - Pha Thaem. There are also magnificent Khmer monuments, situated in beautiful parks as Phanom Rung and Phimai. And last but no least a lot of nature with national parks as the old Kao Yai NP and places with strange rock formations as Mukdahan - Phu Pha Thoep NP.
