DidsLive's video: How To Properly Expose Your Videos For The Ultimate Success In Premiere Pro

How many times have you looked at a video after you post it and go, "Well that color grade doesn't look quite right!" Me too. That's why I am making a video series guiding you to the best color grading you have ever done! Step 1: Exposure This bit is so great because it can be done if you shoot flat or not. I will always import my footage and right away do this! I like to bring the Black value of the Lumetri Colors Panel and drag it until the Scopes peak to the bottom of the graph, indicating a pure black value. My next step is to do the same thing but with the Whites value. When they peak at the top of the Scopes, you have your pure white value. Just bring them back a little and you have yourself a well contrasted video! What I like to do next is work with the Shadows and Highlights sliders which determines how bright or dark the Black or White values are within their Luminescence range. This really helps fine tune things and allows you to give a little of your own spin to the grade. The importance of a well exposed image to grade upon cannot go unnoticed.
