Learn how to hang up a hammock over a long distance (30 feet). It is important get the webbing high up in the tree (about 10 feet) so that you can easily adjust the distance. When someone sits in the hammock, the hammock will sink lower to the ground. Use the carabiner to adjust the distance between the daisy chain attached to the hammock and the daisy chain attached to the tree. Adjust the daisy chains until you get right hammock height. It's also easy to take down the hammock and store it using this technique. Caution: If you use stretchy (dynamic) cord or rope, the hammock will feel like it is on a big elastic shock absorber. If something breaks, this cord contains loaded energy and it will act almost like a big slingshot. If the weakest link breaks, a cord and the carabiner might come flying towards the hammock, possibly causing injury. I make sure that both the cord and carabiner are strong enough for the load. This is why I use climbing grade cord and carabiner. This equipment is designed to take lots of load. Dynamic climbing rope or cord is stretchy. Static climbing rope or cord doesn't stretch much. Nylon rope has up to 25% stretch before it breaks. Over long distances, it can act kind of like a shock absorber or slingshot, because as it stretches it stores energy. Nylon hold knots well. Polypropylene rope doesn't hold knots well, but it is not stretchy. The bottom line is that the rope and components must all be able to handle the load you place upon them.
