Digital Friend's video: How-to Layer Wax Cotton Clothing For Winter Survival Tutorial

Learn how layer clothing to get a freezing cold winter weather survival system. This system uses consumer clothing to get a result similar to specialized survival clothing. You will learn how to use everyday clothing to layer to create a warm air bubble around your body and stay nice and warm, protected from wind and cold. Even the wax cotton clothing is made from consumer fashion clothing. The wax cotton jacket I am wearing in the video is actually a pure cotton woman’s fashion jacket. The designers of this clothing probably never intended it to be used for winter survival. This is the piece of clothing I had available at the time I was making this video. I treated the jacket with paraffin wax and now it is a really good piece of survival clothing. When necessary, you need to think a little bit outside of the box, and find a creative solution. Substitution You will see clothing in this video. You might not be able to find the exact same clothing as I have in the video, but you can substitute something similar which you have available which gets a similar result. Think creatively. If you don’t have a wool jacket, then use two pullovers or find an old wool coat with a collar and use that. If you don’t have what you need, find something similar. Use the principles discussed in this video to make your own system. If you don’t have merino wool socks, then just use regular wool socks. Wool socks should be worn next to the skin. If you don’t have nylon dress socks, then use polyester dress socks, or any type of synthetic socks which are available. How-to Make Wax Cotton I have a video on this channel which shows how to make wax cotton. Buying wax cotton clothing can be quite expensive. Once you know how to make it, the clothing is inexpensive to make it is practically disposable. Just take some used cotton clothing, treat it with paraffin wax, and you’ve got wax cotton clothing. Value of Wax Cotton The value of wax cotton clothing is that you can make it yourself using regular fashion cloths bought in a store. High quality, high tech winter survival clothing can be quite expensive. This system offers a comparable result at a fraction of the cost. The clothing required for this system does not have to be special ordered—you can piece the items together from consumer stores and the items are not very expensive. It’s also possible to use thrift stores or used clothing stores to get many of these items. A one-dollar neck warmer from a dollar store works just fine. Some of the properties of wax cotton clothing are that it is very windproof. Lots of heat loss occurs when cold wind blows onto your skin. This is called windchill. Wax cotton clothing is also moisture resistant. You can splash water onto the clothing in the freezing cold weather and you will probably stay dry. The water cannot penetrate the wax cotton clothing because the cotton is already saturated with wax. The ice that forms stays on top of the clothing. The clothing I have made and tested is definitely rain resistant but the seams appear to leak after a period of rain exposure. The clothing is also dirt resistant. The dirt cannot penetrate the clothing, because the clothing is already saturated with wax. The dirt stays on top of the clothing. If the clothing gets covered in mud, I just let the clothing dry out and then brush the dust off. The clothing can also be a little bit stiff. Over time, the clothing gets worn in and becomes more flexible. The stiffness good in cold weather, because it provides structure to the clothing and allows a warm air bubble to form around the body. The wax cotton clothing is also kind of lubricated. The wax makes the clothing tougher and it also allows the clothing to slip through forest branches and thorns. Wax cotton pants are sometimes called tin pants. On the negative side, the clothing is potentially very flammable. It also looks a little bit unusual. You can buy perfect looking wax cotton clothes designed for fashion, but they are usually quite expensive. For work purposes, I would rather spend $10.00 on do it yourself wax cotton pants than spend $250.00 on a pair of designer wax cotton pants. Possible Work Uses This clothing is great if you are working in cold windy conditions. It also works well in dusty, dirty or slightly wet conditions. It might be useful farmers who work in cold muddy conditions or even fishermen who catch and process fish in cold weather. There may also be some application for camping and other cold weather outdoor activities like hiking or winter survival. The clothes might also have some value in construction industries. Emergency Wheelbarrow Wheelchair A wheelbarrow can also be used to move an injured person. The head is placed towards the handles and the feet go out the front of the wheelbarrow.
