@Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg - available now on DigitalTheatre.com
First performed at the 2011 Glyndebourne Festival, David McVicar’s honest and humane production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg transports this famously controversial German nationalist opera into Wagnerian times. Gerald Finley makes an acclaimed debut in the longest role in the operatic repertoire, Wagner’s philosophising cobbler Hans Sachs. This Glyndebourne production of a colossal work promises to inspire and entertain in equal measures. In this scene Eva and Hans Sachs are discussing whether Walther will win the contest for Eva's hand. After Hans Sachs says that he has no chance, Eva angrily reveals that she is in love with Walther and storms off.
