This 2007 revival stars "the Isolde of our time", Nina Stemme, as the opera’s ill-fated heroine, whose tragic romance has been passed down in legend over ten generations. Richard Wagner’s poetic and musical realisation of this familiar tale has been hailed as a landmark moment in the development of Western classical music, and its sphere of influence continues to this day.
