Chromecast with Google TV is actually closing in on its fourth birthday, and it’s never really had much competition, especially when it comes to price. But Walmart just ended that with the Onn 4K Pro Streaming Device. That’s a bad name for what basically is a Walmart-branded Chromecast. But the name on the box is the only place you’ll actually see any Walmart creep happening. Boot it up, and you’ll feel like you’re using a Chromecast — only this one lacks the lag that we’ve had to put up with for years in Google’s hardware. And what’s more is that Onn’s has a built-in speaker and microphone array, which basically makes it a Google TV version of the Amazon Fire TV Cube, and at less than half the price. So we’re in a pretty intriguing place. Google shows no signs of replacing the Chromecast anytime soon. Walmart has something with an even better experience, for just $50. The only hard part is being able to find one, as it’s sold out pretty quickly.
