Segundo a forma ordinária do rito romano e voltado "versus Deum" entre o ofertório e a Sagrada Comunhão, Sua Eminência segue a orientação, validada também pelo Missal de Paulo VI, de incensar o altar fixo à parede. Portanto, distribui em um lado todos os ictos (movimentos com o turíbulo) que são feitos também quando é dada a volta no altar.
