DiveCareDare's video: A Shiver of Sharks at the Shark Counter - Dive Wobby Rock Sunshine Coast Queensland

@A Shiver of Sharks at the Shark Counter - Dive Wobby Rock, Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Since 2017, an increasing number of critically endangered grey nurse sharks, aka sand tigers [USA], ragged-tooth sharks and, raggies [Africa], have visited Wobby Rock, 11 km out from Mooloolaba Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Most of them are mature and sub-adult males that could be on their way north to the largest aggregation of breeding females at Wolf Rock. Acoustic tagging, citizen science Grey Nurse Shark Watch and DiveCareDare's self-funded research will confirm this or prompt a search for destinations unknown if they fail to be identified at Wolf Rock during the summer survey period. This raw, un-edited video file is shared to flag a pregnant female, one of three females including a sub-adult female that was seen around the acoustic listening station on 18th August 2020 when the water temperature had increased from 19-21C in only 5 days. Currents and winds from the north would raise the water temperature. The total number of sharks at this site for 2020 has yet to be determined. An album on Facebook Page DiveCareDare is a work in progress for those with an eye for detail to help with an estimate.
