See pikes attack the lure! Fishing pikes from the ice is good fun, especially on a short fishing line. This film, shoot underwater, shows when pikes strike the lure and the fight that follows. Don’t miss the action! To catch and release a fish safely in the winter from the ice requires a different tactic than in open waters in the summer. The key is to minimize the time the fish is on land where the temperature often is way below freezing point, and the best way to do so is to fight the fish a little longer in the water. Then it's much easier to handle and unhook the fish and release it. All pikes in this video was released and swam back nicely.
