Drew Schultz's video: Weekly Drum Beat 3 5

Weekly Grooves, extra edition! This beat is based on the drumming of Maurice White (of Earth, Wind & Fire fame), and helps to set the stage for the much more intricate version I'll have coming up next week. This groove is based on a song recorded by Ramsey Lewis called "Wanderin' Rose," where Maurice displays some great left-foot independence. He uses his left foot on the "a" of beats 1 and 3 to lead into the snare drum backbeat, and I've always thought it gave the groove a cool, bouncy feeling.
