Drew Schultz's video: Try It Babe - In Memory of Fred Bridges

This tune goes out in memory of Fred Bridges - Last week, I was saddened to hear about the passing of Fred Bridges​ - I met Fred during my time touring with the Four Tops​, who Fred managed for decades. He could be a harsh road manager from time to time, but always fair, and always with a smile and a wisecrack waiting after scolding you for any misstep. I learned about his career as a singer, songwriter, and producer during the golden years of Motown and Detroit Soul, and the incredible recordings he cut with his group, Brothers of Soul. Although their biggest track was "I Guess That Don't Make Me A Loser," it seemed like every song by the group was just as good, those sorts of songs that should have been massive. This tune, "Try It Babe," was a favorite of mine. When gigging all over New York City, this tune was a staple in the live shows I did with the Funk Machine (now Favorite States). Excuse the rough edges in this performance and production - this recording was cut during a rehearsal in a small NYC apartment living room with one mic as we were just learning the tune. Fred loved the fact that young musicians were out there playing his songs, and they deserve to be heard. RIP Fred, and thanks for all of the great music, good times, and hard work.
