Government may soon announce financial and non-financial aid to reduce cost of green hydrogen. MNRE has proposed Rs 25K cr worth of financial assistance for the manufacturing of electrolysers. Aid will be given to green hydrogen companies and allied equipment manufacturing cost. To support domestic industry, basic custom duty on import of electrolysers will be increased. Green hydrogen to be covered under RoDTEP scheme to incentivise exports. Competitive bids will be invited for green hydrogen/ammonia-based fertiliser plants. A minimum percentage of green hydrogen will be made mandatory for city gas distribution networks.
