Hey y’all! Because of COVID travel restrictions, we've opted outside in our own backyard: the Tri-State area. We spent a wonderful three days/two nights in Dolly Sods Wildnerness West Virignia. Starting out at Bear Rocks Trailhead, we hiked 10-11 miles on our first day and setup camp along the creek. This spot was fairly close to Lion’s Head, which we hiked up to on the second day. It was pretty tough to find, but with Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) we found it, baby! Then we hiked on to our second camp spot. This area doesn’t require permits, and many spots were taken, including the area along the “Forks” section of the trail. This is a great location to camp, but we continued on. Dolly Sods is truly one of the most beautiful backpacking destinations in West Virginia. Do not skip Lion’s Head! It’s well worth the search! Total Mileage: 23 Miles Elevation Gain: 3,573 feet ---------------------------------------------------- Protein Ball Recipe: 1. 1 cup oats 2. 1/4 cup creamy nut butter of your choice 3. 1/4 cup honey 4. 1/4 cup protein powder of your choice 5. Optional: spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, heirloom sea salt flakes 6. Mini chocolate chips Combine all ingredients in a bowl until all of the protein powder is absorbed and roll into mini 1 inch balls.
