@BRAND NEW! Cruise Updates and News Week of May 17th
Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/c/EatSleepCruise1?sub_confirmation=1 While not as active as last week, several major cruise lines released developments this week. With new itineraries for 2021-2022, more cancellations and lay-offs, and even some changes in leadership, the cruise lines kept us busy with new announcements. Don’t worry if you are not up to date, we have you covered with our latest video including all the major cruise headlines and news for May 17, 2020. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! Among the cruise news updates, Arnold Donald, CEO and President of Carnival Corporation made waves when he announced a slew of employee cuts. Among the new changes are partial furloughs, layoffs, and reduced work hours and salaries for shoreside staff. These changes were necessary due to the prolonged cruise delays. While not directly related, Holland America Line president, Orlando Ashford, announced separately this week that he was stepping down from his position. Mr. Ashford has been with Holland America Line since 2014. In his absence, he still expects the company to be successfully once the health crisis has passed and cruising resumes. Royal Caribbean president, Michael Bayley, also made headlines this week with cruise updates regarding returning to service. While he didn’t give any new dates, he did confirm that once RCI returns, the famed Windjammer buffet will not be the same. In fact, he went as far to say that it will not be a buffet at all, at least initially. Other major updates include Norwegian Cruise Line releasing its 2021-2022 schedules to new and exotic destinations across the globe including Antarctica and Africa, and the travel agent Cruise Planners announcing a significant spike in cruise bookings indicating that there is still hope for all of us cruisers out there.
