This breaking cruise update means that the Alaska and Canada/New England cruise seasons could be cancelled again! Right now, only U.S. flagged ships that can sail roundtrip from U.S. ports would be able to offer Alaska sailings! Stayed tuned for more major cruise updates as this story unfolds! -----HUGE CRUISE UPDATE: CARNIVAL ANNOUNCES POLICIES------ Another cruise news s2021 tory this week, Carnival Cruise Line announced its rules and regulations for the resumption of cruising. While other lines have issued recommendations, this latest cruise update from Carnival Cruise Line made it the first of the big three cruise lines to formalize its plans. However, the next day, Carnival Cruise Line removed these protocols from its website. We will be following these cruise updates as the story develops and will be covering it in further cruise updates! -----CRUISE UPDATES U.S. CRUISE LINES REQUIRE VACCINES------ Recently UK brand Saga Cruises became the first cruise line to require vaccines. This past week, two U.S. cruise lines made the same announcement. In this cruise news update, American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory Cruise Lines formally announced that starting July 1st, all cruisers on its ships would need to show proof of a vaccination. Oddly, the cruise line still plans to begin cruising in April without this requirement. Will other larger cruise lines follow suit? Stay tuned for more cruise updates on vaccines! -----NEW CRUISE UPDATES VIKING LAYS KEEL FOR NEW SHIP------ In another cruise ship update, Viking Cruises laid the keel for its 8th ocean cruise line vessel. Viking Mars is set to debut in 2022. Viking continues to show strong growth, despite the pandemic, with additional river cruise ships debuting next year, including Viking Mississippi. The 7th ocean cruise ship, Viking Venus, will set sail this year. -----LATEST CRUISE UPDATES FROM MSC CRUISES---- This week, MSC Cruises took delivery of MSC Virtuosa, the 18th ship in the fleet. There was a flag ceremony to honor this milestone. The ship will begin sailing in April 2021. In more disappointing cruise news, MSC Cruises issued a series of cruise cancellations. This latest cruise update included U.S. sailings until the end of April. Also, planned Mediterranean sailings on MSC Magnifica have been cancelled until the end of April. -----MAJOR CRUISE NEWS CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE'S NEW TERMINAL IN MIAMI---- Finally, at the end of last week, Carnival Cruise Line broke ground on its new terminal in Miami, FL. This 471,000 square foot building will be the line's third terminal at the world's busiest cruise port. The line expects the construction to be complete for the arrival of Carnival Celebration in 2022.
